Kilo

Kilo awakens with no memory of who he is, where he came from, or how he ended up in the world around him. He knows only that something is wrong. His heart does not beat, yet he is alive. He can move, think, feel and fight, but the most basic proof of life is missing. Everything is unfamiliar. Faces mean nothing to him. Places stir no recognition. Even his own name feels like something he has inherited rather than remembered. As Kilo begins to understand the world around him, he discovers that there are others like him, beings known as Black Veins, each carrying their own strange relationship with death, memory and survival. But Kilo is different even among them. He has no idea why. With no past to guide him, Kilo is forced to rely on instinct. He is quiet, observant and often strangely calm in situations that should terrify him, yet there is a sharpness beneath that calm, as though some part of him remembers things his mind cannot. He can be blunt, curious and unexpectedly humorous, often greeting even the most absurd situation with his familiar phrase, “Hey, what’s new.” As the world around him becomes more dangerous, Kilo finds himself drawn into a mystery much larger than his own missing memories. Creatures hunt the Black Veins. Questions surrounding life, death and the soul begin to surface. And with every step forward, Kilo is forced to confront one unsettling possibility: whatever happened to him may not have been an accident. For now, he has only one certainty. He is alive. He just doesn’t know why.
