Olik is one of the demons drawn to Kilo, but unlike the others, his interest in him feels disturbingly personal. Calm, soft-spoken and almost unnervingly polite, Olik rarely raises his voice or loses control. He does not need to. Behind the smile is a creature with no meaningful sense of right or wrong. People are useful, inconvenient, entertaining or disposable, and Olik will manipulate, deceive or destroy anyone if it brings him closer to what he wants. What makes him truly dangerous, however, is what he knows. Olik carries knowledge of a past that has been deliberately buried, a secret connected to events long before Kilo awakened without his memories. He understands far more about what Kilo is, what happened to him and why certain forces are now searching for him, yet he reveals only what serves his own purpose. Among demons, Olik is feared not because he is the loudest or most violent, but because nobody can ever be certain what he is planning. His smile rarely changes, even when others are dying around him. And when Olik finally decides he wants something, morality is never going to be the thing that stops him.
